Primary and secondary students from five schools in Mosman – Beauty Point, Blessed Sacrament, Mosman High, Mosman Prep and Queenwood – have taken part in an Intergenerational Biography Project over the last few months.
They have been researching, interviewing, recording and writing about the lives of those citizens of Mosman who have spent a considerable part of their lives in Mosman.
They have developed their listening and writing skills in workshops facilitated by Mosman Council under the guidance of Dr Rae Luckie, renowned teacher of life writing.
This exhibition will showcase a range of people, including Peter Lovell from Lovells Haberdashery, local artist Ken Done and Keith Jackson from the former Australian School of Pacific Administration on Middle Head.
The project aims to highlight to the community at large the talents of the young writers and the value of the personal stories of their older subjects. It also provides a significant resource in social history for Mosman Library’s Local Studies Collection.
It is part of a commitment to intergenerational harmony by Mosman Council, promoting empathy and understanding across the generations.
Visit Mosman Memories of Your Street where you can add your stories and photos, or listen to selections from the Library’s oral history collection at Mosman Voices.
