Mosman Council is pleased to confirm that the 2008 Mosman Festival will be carbon offset. This demonstrates Council’s commitment to reducing both the environmental impacts of Council and of the Mosman community.
By improving the sustainability of what we do now, we can protect our environment and continue to enjoy it in future years.
Festival sponsor, Todae will audit the Mosman Festival and provide an estimate of the amount of carbon emissions that the 2008 Mosman Festival has created. Todae will then undertake to offset the carbon emitted to the atmosphere by capturing the equivalent amount of carbon through waste recycling offsets.
Mosman Council invites you to learn more about carbon emissions at the Sustainable Living Expo this Sunday (26th October) at the Civic Centre car park and the Volunteers Lounge (next to the Meals on Wheels kitchen). There will be opportunities to talk to staff members and members of local environmental groups as well as attend seminars in the Volunteers Lounge. Robert Videc of Origin Energy will speak about solar energy and solar hot water from 10.30am. At 1pm, there will be tips on using public transport in Mosman and at 2pm a discussion on the ethics of climate change.
Those wishing to do more to reduce their contribution to climate change and to protect our environment can sign up to a local environmental group or electronic information bulletins on the day. The day will also be a fun opportunity to find out more about switching to GreenPower, buying local food and using a compost or worm farm.
The Sustainable Living Expo will run from 10am – 3pm this Sunday. There is no need to RSVP, simply walk, ride a bike, catch a bus or car pool your way there!
